The city and neighbourhood parks are a great place for us to sit, relax and unwind. It is a great way for us to reconnect with the outdoors. Often, we would find beautiful greeneries and flowers at parks, but there is one park that is a little bit different: Taman Lalu Lintas. Translated, it literally means Traffic Park. This is the children’s park situated in the city of Denpasar which is open 24 hours.
For some, when you hear the country ‘Indonesia’, they’ll immediately think of ‘macet’ which means traffic congestion. Lots of cars and people on motorcycles heading to places where they need to be. One of the main reasons the Denpasar City Transportation Agency built this Traffic Park was due to the increasing number of death in accidents on the streets of Denpasar City. This park has a miniature road with facilities and all you need to know about road safety, including road signs such as U-turns, turn right or left, and pedestrian signs. This park is great for all ages, especially children. It is never too early or too late to learn road safety if we want to keep our beautiful country safe!
The lack of public transportation in Denpasar causes the people to own their own motor vehicles. The population’s purchasing power in buying motorcycles is high, making children and the youth ride one easily without knowing the do’s and dont’s of the road safety. With this park, people are more aware and can keep passing the information on to their families and friends to make it a better place. This park is also perfect for those of you want to or just learn how to ride a motorcycle.
Here, one can learn the various traffic signs such as guideline signs and warning signs. If you are interested in practicing your riding skills, come in the morning or the evening because the weather around those times are quite suitable: not too hot. The Traffic Park is spacious and often receives visitors from kindergarten and elementary school students who want to learn more. These children can change lives and advise their parents or guardians to be more careful on the road.
Take your children, your nieces and nephews and have fun, make up games while you’re a it while learning about safety at the Traffic Park. Why wait for when they are old enough to get a driver’s permit to drive? It is never too early to learn! Entrance is free.
